About this unit
This is the first of three professional experience units in secondary education. Pre-service teachers will undertake a 20-day professional experience in a secondary school under the supervision of approved mentors. Pre-service teachers will involve themselves in the life of the school and reflect on their practice and performance in discussion with their mentors and university academic staff.
Pre-service teachers will begin to develop their understanding and competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) appropriate to this course stage. Pre-service teachers will be introduced to materials relating to pedagogy, curriculum, assessment and policies relevant to secondary school settings.
