About this unit
Upon successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- Explain the importance of effective leadership and management in contemporary organisations
- Describe and discuss critically the theories and concepts of leadership and management
- Critically employ a model of leadership to analysis the effectiveness of individual leaders
- Identify and discuss leadership and management behaviours and skills and discuss the interrelatedness of the functions of leadership and management
- Critically asses one’s own personal leadership and management behaviour and skills, identifying those behaviours and skills which need further development. Following this you will plan a development program.

This unit will provide discipline-based knowledge and professional capabilities and experiences contributing to students’ progress in attaining generic skills such as:
