Exams are included in many Swinburne Online units as a compulsory part of assessment. This page provides general information, and answers some frequently asked questions about the exam process.
Exams are held in Australian capital cities or regional centres based on the number of candidates in that location. Venues within these cities will be selected based on their central location and proximity to public transport. Some capital cities may not be established as examination centres due to low candidate numbers.
Students who cannot attend a metropolitan exam venue due to distance, work commitments or medical reasons that have been registered via an Equitable Assessment Arrangement (EAA) will be automatically allocated to sit their exams via the online exam option. The examinations can be held at home, using a personal computer, with a supervisor monitoring the exam via webcam. If a student within 100km of a venue registers to sit an exam online, supporting documentation may be requested.
For anyone who cannot meet the technical requirements of the online exams, there is the option to opt-out of the online exams and a venue in the local region will be booked by the exams team. Information about opting out of the online exams option will be included in the email sent to student accounts in Week 7.
Some exceptions to the above attendance options may apply for students on deployment with the Defence Forces or for students with mobility medical conditions. More information will be included in the email sent to student accounts in Week 7.
